QRG - Getting Started

Users interested in signing up for the PIUG wiki should refer first to the Quick Reference Guide on Initial Signup.

All users are advised to make these changes via the Settings item in the top menubar (after login):

1. While in the PIUG Space: Settings...Watch this Space, including Forums & News: click on it to to get full-text email notifications of all new content added to the PIUG space.
2. Settings...Manage my Email Notifications...Notify me on my own Postings: check the box to receive email notifications of content you add or edit.
3. Settings...Manage my Personal Information...Edit My Profile and ...Edit my Picture: add professional background information and photos similar to those on LinkedIn pages. PIUG members are encouraged to add a full-featured Personal Space as explained in the corresponding Quick Reference Guide.

In addition, all new users will receive daily update e-mail messages summarizing new PIUG wiki and discussion forum content by default. To stop or restart these daily updates, use Settings...Manage my Email Notifications...Subscribe to Daily Updates.

Per the first recommendation, all users are encouraged to activate the "Watch this Space" link to get full-content e-mail messages covering all new and edited content in the PIUG space, including the PIUG Discussion Forum (PIUG-DF) and other discussion forum topics, blog posts (i.e. news items), and all wiki pages. Alternatively, users may activate the "Watch this Forum" link while on any discussion forum home page if not watching the whole space. This would be equivalent to "joining" the discussion forum.

The Help pages provide many other quick reference guides and help resources and forums. New users may particularly want to read the quick reference guides on Adding Topics to Discussion Forums, Editing Page Content, and Creating and Watching Blog Posts, and view the PIUG:Wiki Training Webinars three mini-tutorials (one hour total) that describe and demonstrate all basic wiki operations and functions.
