Hi All,
I was wondering if we can upload the presentations made at conferences/meetings (e.g., Boston Biotech Meet) at a document sharing site like Slideshare or Google Docs. It will make the slides more accessible to all members.
They can then also be embedded into the conference pages.
Regards,
Amit

The slide decks for the presentations from all PIUG meetings going back about 4-5 years (someone else can check the exact date) have been posted to the members-only area of the PIUG web site, assuming that the speakers/co-authors have signed a release to give us permission to post their slides. Elyse Turner announced at the Boston Biotech Meeting last week that this practice would continue for that day's presentations as well. So if you are a PIUG member and registered for access to the members-only area, you will be able to view the presentations. If the slides are not yet posted, just keep checking.
Cheers,
AJD

My understanding was that the presentations were to be posted ONLY to the "members only" portion of our site. This is one of the "perks" of membership in PIUG.
Best regards,
Marty

I'm sorry you were not able to attend the meeting. I hope you will be able to attend in the future. I'm very glad we were able to find a suitable replacement.
As A.J. indicated the plan is to post the presentations in the members only area. One purpose for this as Marty indicated is as a perk for members.
Presenters are welcome to post their presentations elsewhere if they would like. Rob Austin, for instance, posts many of his presentations on the FIZ Karlsruhe website.
I hope to have the presentations from the Boston Biotech meeting ready to post next week. I am still awaiting some release forms.
Thank you for making the suggestion of other places to post slides!
Elyse

I know that the presentations are available in the member's only area. What I was wondering was if even in that area the presentations could be embedded instead of just providing download links? The download option is anyway available.
Personally, I think it would be best if such presentations could be shared with non-members as well, but I the PIUG governing board could decide on that.
Best regards,
Amit

I want to thank you for suggesting such a good idea. It turns out that our wiki software, Confluence, has a relatively-new feature to imbed Office files (doc, pdf, ppt, and xls) files just as you proposed. You may check this out for the 2008 Boston Biotech papers in the Members-only section.* Elyse Turner and I will make the 2009 Boston Biotech papers available on an analogous page in the next week or so.
