Emerging markets, particularly the China market, have become a strategic area for pharmaceutical and chemical companies and law firms. China's lawmakers adopted third revision of the law lately, which will bring a number of substantial changes to the Chinese patent system.

On behalf of the US Organizing Committee of the 2nd Beijing International Pharmaceutical and Chemical IP Forum, I want to extend my warmest invitation to you to attend the 2nd Beijing IP Forum to be held on August 5-8, 2009 in Beijing. The promotional brochure is attached as an Adobe pdf document. I would very much appreciate if readers would forward this information to colleagues or peers who might be interested in attending.

The 1st Beijing IP Forum was successfully held in April of 2006. It attracted over 300 participants from 12 countries. The event was covered by Reuters and the Chinese press, including China Central Television. Tom was there and experienced himself the success of the 1st Forum. Inspired by the success of the 1st Forum, the original organizers have decided to hold the 2nd Forum, following essentially the same principles and format of the 1st Forum.

SIPO, China's Patent Office, endorsed and supported the 1st Forum held in 2006 and will lead the 2nd Forum. The SIPO Commissioner, Tian Li Pu, will chair this Forum. And the Chinese Intellectual Property Society (CIPS) is our partner in China and will co-organize and promote the 2nd Forum locally to guarantee the quality of the Forum. See the attachment for the Forum Announcement.

With SIPO and CIPS involved, the 2nd Forum is set as the No. 1 IP conference for China in 2009. It will provide an outstanding opportunity to interact and network with Chinese government officials, representatives from China's chemical and pharmaceutical industries, representatives from Chinese academia and IP attorneys from China.

We are privileged to have top U.S. IP elites and top Pharmaceutical IP executives from the U.S., e. g. Donald Dunner and Tom Irving from Finnegan; Robert Baechtold from Fitzpatrick; Robert Deberadine, Global Head of the Patent Group from sanofi-aventis and Stuart Watt, VP and Chief Patent Counsel from Amgen, to give outstanding presentations at the 2nd Forum.

For more details, please visit our website at www.chinaipforum.net, we are looking forward to seeing you in Beijing!
