Hi all,
With the January 2009 introduction of a new search field in the USPTO Genetic Sequence Database (USGENE) on STN, you now have an easier way to identify sequences mentioned in patent claims. The new PSL (Patent Sequence Location) field provides you with sequence identity numbers. If these sequence identity numbers are described in the claims, then the corresponding claim number is provided, improving your access to this information.
USGENE on STN has also added four display formats from the International Patent Documentation Database (INPADOCDB). The INPADOCDB fields identify the sequence records from a USGENE sequence search that come from different U.S. publications but refer to the same INPADOC family. The INPADOCDB fields new to USGENE are FAM (AN, table of patent family information), CFAM (condensed FAM with only PI in the table), LS (AN, UPLS, legal status), and LS2 (detailed version of legal status with display header). Additional fees are charged for displaying these fields in USGENE. For price information, enter HELP COST at an arrow prompt (=>) in the database.
For additional information about USGENE, refer to the FIZ Karlsruhe web site or the STN Database Summary Sheet.
