The conference will feature three 90 minute IPI Skills Development Tutorials on the following subjects:

  2. Freedom to Operate Searching Fundamentals and Advanced Topics - Best Practices Explained Using Case Studies, presented by Dr. Monika Hanelt, Patent Information Manager, Agfa NV.

  3. Opposition and Invalidity Searching - How Patent Offices Look to Novelty and Inventive Step, What is Needed to Invalidate a Patent, and Guidelines for Setting up Search Strategies. presented by Aalt van de Kuilen, Patent Information Services B.V.  

    Both Monika and Aalt have extensive experience training patent information professionals so we are delighted to have them at this conference. 

 The conference will also feature the highly regarded IPI MasterClass by Stephen Adams entitled:

Free to Operate -  but When?  A look at post-grant amendments in major jurisdictions, what can happen after a patent is granted, and how to find out about the changes.

The European Patent Office will provide three speakers.  Jutta Hausser will present a workshop on legal status data provided by Asian national registers.  Christian Soltmann will discuss INPADOC worldwide legal event data and Heiko Wongel will provide patent information survey results.
Bettina de Jong will provide an update on the Qualified Patent Information Professional (QPIP) Certification Project.
