Dear Colleague,

I would like to invite you to PATINFO2016 - 38th Colloquium of the Ilmenau University of Technology on Patent Information and Intellectual Property Rights. The guiding theme of this year's PATINFO is Big Data – Chances and Challenges. The conference will be held in Ilmenau, Germany, from 8th to 10th June 2016.

“Big Data” will play an important role in the field of Intellectual Property. During PATINFO more than 300 participants will discuss the chances and challenges arising from the combination of data sets from different sources and the combination of IP data with market data. Information retrieval and analysis using big data need software tools and methods like semantics analysis and data visualization to reveal new insights. With this in mind we present various topics related to information retrieval, patent valuation and evaluation, trademarks and design as well as legal issues.

In the key notes the President of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), a representative of the European Patent Office (EPO) and a representative of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will present their views on the role of “Big Data” in the field of intellectual property rights.
In the main part, patent and trademark experts from industry, patent offices, information providers and academic institutions as well as patent attorneys will give their expertise on the subject.
In the accompanying exhibition and a series of short lectures, over 30 software providers and information service providers will present their latest developments. As a part of the exhibition, the Thuringian Patent Agency will present current technology offers of Thuringian universities and scientific institutions.
A free workshop program will complete the event. The PATINFO2016, organized by the Thuringia Patent Center PATON, will remain the forum for the exchange of experiences between patent attorneys, patent specialists, engineers, scientists, service and information providers and information brokers, offices and agencies of intellectual property rights.

To facilitate the informal exchange and networking the conference will start on the 8th of June with a Welcome Reception sponsored this year by the UNYCOM and the PATON.

All meeting details and registration form are on the website http://www.paton.tu-ilmenau.de/en/das-paton/patinfo.html
We kindly advise you that the conference language is German.

Kind regards,
Christoph Hoock
